Plain-English summary. PraxisMD Journal Scan is a literature triage tool for clinicians. It helps you skim recent published research faster. It is not clinical advice and must not be used as the sole basis for any diagnostic or treatment decision. By creating an account or using the app you agree to these terms.

1. Who we are

PraxisMD Journal Scan (“the App”, “we”, “us”) is operated by PraxisMD FZ-LLC, a company registered in the Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone (RAKEZ), United Arab Emirates under registration number Licence No. 45036282 (Commercial Registration No. 0000004089117), with its registered address at VUNE1987, Compass Building, Al Hulaila Industrial Zone-FZ, Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates. 2. Who can use the App

The App is intended for use by qualified healthcare professionals (clinicians, residents, medical students under supervision, allied health professionals and biomedical researchers). By creating an account you confirm that:

you are at least 18 years old;
you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement;
you will use the App for professional reference only, in accordance with the standards and regulations of your jurisdiction and your professional licensing body.

3. What the App does — and what it does not do

The App ingests published, peer-reviewed medical literature (randomised trials, meta-analyses, reviews, guidelines) and presents structured summaries, including study design, primary and secondary outcomes, limitations and a one-line bottom line. The App does not:

diagnose, treat or recommend treatment for any patient;
provide individualised clinical advice;
replace your independent clinical judgement;
guarantee that summaries are free from error or that the underlying source articles are correct, current or applicable to a specific patient.

Always read the source. Every summary in the App links to the original peer-reviewed article. Before applying any finding to patient care you must consult the source article in full, the relevant clinical guidelines, and your local protocols.

4. Your account

You sign in with an email address and a password. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly at support@praxismdpub.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

scrape, bulk-download or systematically copy the App’s content for redistribution;
reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the App’s source code, models or prompts, except to the extent permitted by applicable law;
use the App in any way that infringes the intellectual property or other rights of any third party (including journal publishers);
use the App to provide a competing literature-summarisation service;
interfere with or disrupt the App, its servers or networks, including by attempting to gain unauthorised access.

6. Third-party content and links

Summaries reference and link to articles published by third-party journals, publishers and indexing services (including PubMed, Crossref, journal websites and the DOI system). The App displays bibliographic metadata and short, transformative summaries; it does not host or redistribute the full text of those articles. Access to a full article is governed by the relevant publisher and may require a subscription or institutional access.

7. Intellectual property

The App’s software, interface, brand, logo and the structured summaries that we generate are owned by PraxisMD FZ-LLC or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trade-mark and other intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to use the App for your professional reference on devices you own or control, subject to these Terms.

8. Advertising

The App may, in future versions, display first-party curated advertisements relating to medical products, services, conferences or continuing-education content, contextually matched to your chosen specialties. Advertisements are clearly labelled as such. We do not use third-party advertising networks and do not share your personal data with advertisers for targeting purposes.

9. Pricing, in-app purchases and subscriptions

The App is currently offered free of charge. We reserve the right to introduce paid features, subscriptions or in-app purchases. Any paid offering will be clearly priced and described before you are charged, and will be billed through the App Store or Google Play in accordance with their respective terms.

10. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that summaries will be free from inaccuracy, omission or out-of-date information.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event will PraxisMD FZ-LLC, its directors, employees, agents or licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or other intangible losses, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the App — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the App is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you have paid to us for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless PraxisMD FZ-LLC from any claim, demand, liability, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) your use of the App, (b) your violation of these Terms, or (c) your violation of any third-party right, including any clinical, professional, regulatory or intellectual-property right.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App at any time and delete your account by writing to support@praxismdpub.com. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the App. On termination, the licence granted to you in clause 7 ends immediately.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If the change is material we will notify you in-app or by email before it takes effect. Continued use of the App after the effective date of an updated version constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

15. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates and the federal laws applicable in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. You and we submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ras Al Khaimah for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms, save that we may bring proceedings against you to enforce intellectual property rights in any jurisdiction.

16. Apple-specific terms

When you obtain the App via the Apple App Store, you acknowledge that these Terms are concluded between you and PraxisMD FZ-LLC — not Apple — and that Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. Apple is, however, a third-party beneficiary of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Maintenance, support and product-liability claims relating to the App are the responsibility of PraxisMD FZ-LLC, not Apple.
